Endurance [cat.‘resistència’], bergantí de tres pals en què Sir Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922) va navegar cap a l’Antàrtida el 1914 en l’Expedició Imperial Transantàrtica. L’expedició salpà el 1912 de Sandefjord (Noruega), però tres anys més tard el vaixell va quedar atrapat en el gel, va patir grans desperfectes en el buc i s’enfonsà al mar Weddell de l’Antàrtida. Tot i que Shackleton, explorador angloirlandès que va ser una de les figures principals del període conegut com l’Edat Heroica de l’Exploració Antàrtica, va fracassar en l’objectiu de creuar a peu el continent antàrtic, va demostrar les seves qualitats de lideratge, per les quals és recordat.
